Lápiz Conté - Sir Edmund Hillary

¡Por fin he reparado mi ordenador! Después de un par de semanas sin él, he conseguido cambiar los componentes estropeados y volver a escanear y postear en el blog.

Arranco con un dibujo a Conté de Sir Edmund Hillary, uno de los machotes de la historia (fue el primer hombre en alcanzar la cima del Everest), con su sherpa Tenzing. Era neozelandés, y aunque siempre se puso en duda quién pisó primero la cima, el propio sherpa ya dejó bien claro que fue Hillary.

He hecho este dibujo por esta manía de ver fotos antiguas que tengo, y la sensación que me entra de que la gente antes era...distinta. Uno ve las fotos de los hombres del siglo XIX y principios del XX y eran, no sé cómo explicarlo,...más hombres. Igual pasa con las mujeres. Uno ve las fotos de Hillary y se da cuenta de que está ante un hombre de verdad, de los que ya no quedan (mi mujer discrepa, dice que tiene cara de rarito e inaguantable, y no anda desencaminada porque Sir Edmund era un solitario y un poco asocial, como todos los montañeros - al menos los que yo conozco).

De momento, nada más. Sigo preparando la próxima exposición (surprise, surprise que diría Springsteen) y algún mural que tengo encargado para el verano...ya os comentaré.

At last my PC is fixed! After a couple of weeks without it, I managed to change de broken devices and now I am able to scan and post in my blog.


I start with a Conté drawing of Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the badasses of History (he was the first man to reach the top of the Everest, with his sherpa Tenzing). He was a newzelander, and though it has always been debated who stepped first on top, the sherpa himself stated clearly it was Hillary.


I've done this drawing because of this filia of mine of watching old photos, and the sensation I have that people were different before. As you watch pictures from men from the XIX century and the first years of XX you see they were, I don't know how to explain it, ...more men. It is the same with women. You can watch pictures of Hillary and notice that you are in front of a real man, a man that is nowhere to be found nowadays (my wife disagrees, she says he looks a bit socially awkard, and she is not far away from the truth, as Sir Edmund was a loner and a bit asocial, as all the mountaineers - at least the ones I know).


Nothing else by now. I keep on preparing the next exhibition (surprise, surprise would say Springsteen) and some mural I have been asked for summer...I will post more about that.
