Y más Velázquez aún... / and even more Velasques...

With some gouache again. It is fantastic how he treated textures. You can feel the gloves skin and it is very different from the flesh, or the rest of the clothes, or anything.
In this sketch I was trying to learn a bit about how he treated values against values...clear against dark, dark against dark, clear against clear and clear against dark. He is the best in this area. Even better (if that's possible) than Rembrandt's windmill which is a classic of this technique: each paddle of the windmill is in one value agains

Y otro más... / And another one...

Top: a half minute test with some oil pastels I bought by 2€. Obviously their quality is below 0, but they'll be useful for something.
Down: another sketch of Conde Duque de Olivares with pen and ink.
