Los "Tres Amigos" crean una acuarela a tres manos / The "Three Friends make a watercolour all together

Los tres acuarelistas más conocidos en el panorama artístico internacional, se reunieron hace un tiempo para crear una gigantesca acuarela entre los tres...¡trabajando a la vez!
Herman Pekel, Zbukvic (mi favorito) y el uruguayo Álvaro Castagnet se juntaron en el estudio de Zbukvic, patrocinados por http://www.seniorart.com.au/  y http://www.colourinyourlife.com.au, 
para pintar un paisaje urbano a los que tan aficionados son los tres, cada uno con su característico estilo e interfiriendo uno con otro en lo que se iba pintando.

Es muy interesante ver las distintas paletas de colores que van usando cada uno, los colores fríos de Zbukvic contra los cálidos de Pekel, el uso del agua que hace cada uno: unos bañan el papel en ella mientras otros prefieren más pigmento... muy entretenido de ver.

Independientemente del valor comercial que tenga la iniciativa, hay algo que agradezco enormemente a estos tres artistas: han vuelto a situar la acuarela en un lugar privilegiado del arte contemporáneo después de décadas de abandono. Sus talleres se valoran a un pastizal y la asistencia no es fácil. Sus nombres son conocidos por cualquier acuarelista del mundo, y sus videos y libros se venden por millares. Así, más allá de los puntos que los unen (paisaje urbano en su mayoría, un cierto estilo común en el tratamiento del tema muy alejado, por ejemplo, de un Charles Reid u otros acuarelistas) han conseguido cierta unanimidad internacional en cuanto a sus trabajos.

Y eso en los tiempos que corren, no lo consigue todo el mundo...


The three most known watercolorists in the international art world, gathered some time ago to create a huge watercolour between the three of them...all working at the same time!

Herman Pekel, Zbukvic (my favourite one) and Alvaro Castagnet, met at Zbukvic's studio, sponsored by in order to paint an urban landscape of the kind they are all so fond of, each one painting in their own style and painting over the other one's previous paint.


It is quite interesting to watch the different colour palettes each one uses, the cold colours of Zbukvic mixed with the warm ones Pekel uses, how each one uses the water: some soak completely the paper while others prefer to paint with more paint...really entertaining.


Further from the commercial value of this session, there's something I thank these three guys: they have placed watercolor back in a privilaged stand of contemporary art after several decades of decay. Their workshops are worth a big bunch of money and to be chosen to participate is not easy. Their names are known by any watercolorist all around the world and their videos and books are solden by thousands. So, further from what keeps them together (urban landscapes, a common style in the treatment of the subject far from the one of Charles Reid and others) they have obtained international unanimity about the quality of their works.


And that's not easy nowadays...
